Around Surrey
I grew up in an area close to part of the North Downs. Our house was very close to a woodland area, which is a lovely place to walk, and a couple of miles walk from Ranmore common.

The river Wey runs from Godalming in Surrey down to the Thames. I spent some wonderful holidays on the canals as a child, but even though (or maybe because) the Wey is so close, I'd never been on it until quite recently, the weekend of my parents' 60th birthdays.

In 2006, the village of Shere became a base for filming for The Holiday. I visited the set of the cottage, constructed above the village.
