Bleak House

This was a great BBC period drama; actually one of the few Dickens books I'd never read, but the way the story was presented had a very Dickensian feel. Having Gillian Anderson in the cast (excellent overall) was a bonus :)

Life on Mars

Police drama with a sci-fi twist, and a journey back to the 70s - each episode an exciting story in itself, but also reaching further into the mystery surrounding the fate of the protagonist.

Middlemarch

This mini-series introduced me to George Eliot's novel. While it can't include the full complexity and depth of the original, it is an excellent adaption of the key events and relationships.

Pride and Prejudice

My favourite of the BBC period dramas, and not just because of Mr Darcy :D A fine adaptation of a well-crafted story.

Sleeper Cell

Highly charged drama centering on a terrorist cell in Los Angeles. With both Muslim hero and Muslim villain, it set out to show there is more to Islam than the extremists.
