I am prone to nostalgia, and memories and associations are very important to me. Many of my favourite things are favourites because they remind me of a time or a place or a person that I knew.

Slash Fiction / Femmeslash
I don't read much fanfic, but I do enjoy some slash - exploring possibilities ignored in mainstream film and tv. After discovering the concept of slash while researching gender and sexuality issues for an essay, I went hunting... Many of my favourite pairings come from the femmeslash genre, particularly in Star Trek, Babylon 5 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Steam Trains
As a child I was brought up on Thomas the Tank Engine and special outings to steam railways, and I still love travelling by steam train when I get the chance.

She was the main reason I started watching tennis, and the only sports person whose career I really followed from beginning to end. One of the great players, and beautiful to watch.
