Fanlistings: Music N-Z
The Village - James Newton Howard
Haunting soundtrack to the M. Night Shyamalan film, with a beautiful violin theme played by Hilary Hahn.
Nightwish
I discovered Nightwish a few years ago and immediately fell in love with their powerful and melodic brand of symphonic metal. I enjoy all five of the albums they released with Tarja Turunen as lead vocalist as well as some of their recent work.
Noa
A friend introduced me to her music with the track 'Long Coat in Winter', still my favourite. Beautiful, emotional songs, some English, some Hebrew, some Yemenite. I also admire her support for Arab-Jewish partnership in Israel.
Rachmaninov
Another favourite composer - I first fell in love with his Piano Concerto no. 2 (which is also the soundtrack for Brief Encounter), and Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini. I also love playing the Prelude in C# Minor.
Lord of the Rings - Howard Shore
This music is beautiful in itself, and also a perfect accompaniment to the films, using themes and motifs to enhance the different characters and places of Middle-earth.
Therion
One of the most adventurous metal bands, Therion were pioneers of symphonic metal, blending operatic female vocals and choirs with male vocals to develop their distinctive but always evolving sound.
War of the Worlds - Jeff Wayne
A wonderful musical interpretation of H.G. Wells's story, and a favourite ever since I heard it as a child. I also recently saw the terrific live show.
Across the Stars (Star Wars) - John Williams
My favourite theme from the Star Wars prequals, and one of my favourite tracks by John Williams.
