They're fun, great shorthand in IM conversations, and liven up tagboards. There are some very creative emoticon creators around, some of the animated ones are mini works-of-art.
LoLcats
Cute cats and witty captions - this form of internet humour never fails to make me smile. A dear friend sends me a daily lolcat which always cheers me up at work.

I'm still learning this (will I ever stop learning?), but it's become one of my favourite pastimes. There are so many possibilites, and though it can be frustrating at times I enjoy tackling the challenges I encounter in it.

DVDs
It isn't just that the quality is so superior to VHS, it's the DVD extras. I'm addicted! :P And I can make screencaps, which are oh so useful for graphics ;)
Winamp
My favourite programme for playing music and video files on my computer. I also enjoy the potential for skinning.
