Dolphins

I love the playfulness of dolphins and have no doubt of their intelligence. Although I'm not a huge fan of swimming myself, one of my dreams is to swim with dolphins one day.

Elephants

Everything that I have seen about elephants has convinced me that these creatures experience strong emotion. Stories of their powerful family bonds are very moving.

Otters

Otters were the main focus of my visit to Skye. They were being elusive, but I finally spotted one. Graceful and playful creatures

Seals

My favourite animals since I was about 4 years old. Just beautiful creatures.

Snakes

Although snakes got a bad press in Jewish and Christian mythology, elsewhere they are symbols of wisdom, healing and renewal. The snake is also my sign in the Chinese zodiac :)

Eagles

Awe-inspiring birds, beautiful and powerful. Seeing a golden eagle was one of the highlights of my visit to Skye in 2004.

Kiwis

Extremely unusual and interesting birds, also very cute.

Puffins

My first close encounter with puffins was on Skomer island in Wales in spring 2005. Rather comical, and utterly adorable.

Owls

I love owls for their mystery as well as for their beauty. My favourites are the sleek barn owls.
