Fanlistings: Actors (Female)
Audrey Hepburn
Classic beauty and elegance, memorable and engaging in all her roles; my favourite is Sabrina, though I also love Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Cate Blanchett
I first saw her in Elizabeth, in which she is stunning. She is a wonderful actress, and I love the quality of her presence on screen. She also makes a perfect Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings.
Judi Dench
A truly great actress, she's able to dominate any scene as either star (Queen Victoria in Mrs Brown) or supporting actress (Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love, a terrific 'M' in the recent James Bond films).
Kate Mulgrew
I'm forever a fan for her wonderful performance as Captain Janeway in Star Trek Voyager. She was ideal to play the tough, resourceful and sexy woman who was Trek's first female captain.
Susan Sarandon
An actress I admire both onscreen and off, for the strong characters she has potrayed, and for her active commitment to left-wing politics. My favourites among her films are Thelma and Louise, and The Client.
Sigourney Weaver
I first saw her in Gorillas in the Mist but like her most of all as Ellen Ripley in the Alien films. A striking and powerful actress; I also admire her off-screen personality, and her work for the environment and endangered species.
Catherine Zeta Jones
Her beauty is simultaneously ethereal and sensual. I first saw her as a perfect Eustacia Vye in The Return of the Native. Although not a fan of her 'Hollywood' persona, I still love her in roles such as Elena in Zorro.
